The American Cinematheque has announced that its 40th American Cinematheque Awards Gala will not be held. This news comes after Ryan Gosling, who was slated to be honored at the November event, decided to exit. The gala was originally set to celebrate Gosling's contributions to film. However, following his withdrawal, organizers have opted to cancel the entire 2026 award ceremony.
